For well-known reasons, the 4th grade had to cut their end-of-year trip short, and instead visited the Thayatal National Park for one day. At the tourist centre, our guides Natascha & Petra welcomed us and taught us about survival in the wild, which included the kids building their own shelters using materials found in the forest. After some great displays of teamwork and successful shelters, we took a short walk to the lookout which gave us a great view of Austria’s smallest town, Hardegg. Complementary exercises showing the kids the struggle of navigating and orienting in an unknown place left big impressions on them.<\/p>\n

Before heading back into civilization the young survivors were introduced to the resent wild cat Pablo and learnt how to make fire using various wilderness techniques. Thanks to our guides for showing us a great time.<\/p>\n
